Early Learning Programs
Education should celebrate the wisdom of each child. At Northern Dutchess Day Care/Early Learning Center, we awaken the whole child through an educational program that engages body, mind, and heart. Our creative curriculum focuses less on molding children and more on unfolding each individual learner. Helping children discover themselves, as well as their place in the world around them, is at the core of everything we do.
Program includes: Healthful Breakfast and Daily Snack (parents provide lunch), Creative Educational Activities/Projects, Natural Classroom, Extensive Outdoor Classrooms, Vegetable and Flower Garden, Certified CPR and First Aid Staff
SEEDLINGS
(18 months - 2.5 years)
Seedlings are our youngest students, ranging in ages from 18 – 30 months. Here our teachers help ease the transition from home to school. We learn to make friends, share, and how to manage our big feelings. Age-appropriate skills develop as we play in Nature and learn about the forest around us.
SAPLINGS
(older Twos to young Threes)
Saplings range in age from 30-36 months. Here, as they begin their journey towards age 3, artists, scientists and inventors emerge. Small and gross motor skills grow in spades, as does language. We weave these emerging skills into activities such as planting, observing wildlife, and reading. We also assist with family directed potty training.
FOREST FRIENDS
(Montessori Style Mixed Age Class 3-5 years)
Forest Friends is our Montessori style Mixed Age Classroom, with students ranging in age from 3-5 years. Mixed Age Classrooms are a hallmark of a Montessori education, known to build confidence, collaboration, and a holistic preschool development.
Our Forest Friends enjoy exploring and testing new skills throughout their extensive Outdoor Classroom. From storytelling in our Bird’s Nest to playing on their giant hill, our Forest Friends discover together the daily treasures that Nature offers.
